There are over 15 million guitar players in the world, and I think it's a fair assumption that only a very small percentage of them have tried to build their own guitar.

It is important to note, this is purely a snapshot of what it would take to get started to build a guitar. I helped a guy build an electric guitar once and it wasn't easy.
Believe it or not, electric guitars are easy compared to acoustic. If you wanted to build an acoustic guitar you would need some serious training, research, and tools.

I'd say start small. Purchase a guitar build kit and figure out all the parts and tools. Then upgrade to doing the entire thing from scratch.
